In just ten minutes, you and your child can play “I Spy” with a flashlight.
Take advantage of early evening darkness that comes with the shorter days of the season and play a simple game of “I Spy” using a flashlight and things you have in your house. Turn off some of the lights in the room so the room is darker, but not dark. After dinner or before bed, take turns describing an object in the room by saying, “I spy something that is __.” The person looking for the object shines the beam of the flashlight on the object once it is found. Switch roles and play again. For younger children, you can simplify the game by stating the name of the object instead of describing it.
