In just ten minutes, you and your child can play with rhyming words. A family member starts with a word such as HAT, then the child can come up a word that rhymes, such as CAT or BAT . If they can’t come up with a word, the family member can say both words – LOG and FROG – and say: “Those words sound alike! That’s rhyming.”
Young children do not know what rhyming is, but they know they are fun words to say! This activity may inspire your child to play with rhyming words on their own as you drive down the street!
