In just ten minutes, you can prep your child for family holiday gatherings. As the holidays approach, you may be preparing to spend time with extended family members that may not be part of your child’s day-to-day life.
To help your child prepare, pull out your phone and head to your photos. Find photos of your extended family members and move them to a designated folder or album. Then sit down with your child, name each person and share a simple story about him or her as you look at their photos.
If your child is just starting to understand and use language, the stories can be short – even just one sentence! Repeat the same sequence and stories frequently to build familiarity. Bonus points: Send your photos to be printed into a simple photo book for a screen-free option.
