In just ten minutes, you and your child can create a tape town.
Start by grabbing a piece of paper and a pencil to sketch out a plan for your tape town. Ask your child what things are important to include in your town. Houses? A school? A store? A library? A firehouse? Where should each building go? Be sure to include the roads to connect the buildings. Once you have finished your map, use a roll of painter’s tape to create the outlines of roads and buildings on the floor. Compare the finished tape town with the map. Talk about how the map and the tape town are the same and how they are different. Then play with your tape town with toy cars and toy people or animals.
