In just ten minutes, you and your child can build a giant block tower. Over the next several weeks, collect empty boxes in a variety of sizes. These can be shipping boxes or food boxes like cereal, minute rice, or mac and cheese.
Once each box is empty, wrap it in plain brown paper and secure it with clear packing tape. When you’ve gathered a good set, these boxes become giant building blocks for your child to stack, arrange, and explore. As you build a tall tower together, use positional words such as “beside,” “next to,” and “underneath.”
If your child isn’t familiar with these words yet, pair each one with a simple gesture or point to help them understand.
