Helping Your Child Explore Big Feelings with “If You’re Happy and You Know It”

In just ten minutes, you and your child can sing If You’re Happy and You Know It. It is important to talk about the “big feelings” children have so they can recognize them on the faces of others as well as their own. Add different verses with different emotions.

An example is “If you’re silly and you know it, tickle yourself!” or “If you’re tired and you know it, close your eyes.” or “If you’re angry and you know it, stomp your feet!” These adaptations can be a fun way allow for your child to practice imitating and expressing different emotions.
